For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. Enjoy performances by the Hillbrook String Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, and String Quartet, featuring a vibrant mix of classical favourites and contemporary works. The program embraces the emotional sweep of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, with its powerful journey from darkness to triumph, alongside the fiery brilliance of Vivaldi’s Summer from The Four Seasons and the timeless beauty of Greensleeves. The concert also highlights the evocative colours of contemporary string writing and the distinctive sounds of the guitar ensemble, with works spanning the rhythmic pulse of Kenengiser’s Mbira, the vast open landscapes of Levesque’s Onk Akimel Landscape, and the playful energy of Fimbel’s Lou’Ping. Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Our favourite cheeky dog is blasting off to discover the red planet, Mars. Tycho is in search of water to fly his steam-powered space kennel back home. But how will he find water on Mars? Bands in Parks: Tutus and Tiaras
Bands in Parks performs at Brisbane Botanic Gardens. Put on your best tutu or dance costume and join us for some fun in the botanic gardens from 9am. There will be tiara and bracelet making, dancing sessions with the Queensland Ballet and after that, South East Queensland Symphonic Winds invite you to join them for a concert at the bandstand, where the little dancer in your family can dance to their joyful music. There will be music from Enchanted, Frozen, Theme from the Nutcracker and Lord of the Dance.
