Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Atomic legacy: 80 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Join us at Anzac Square Memorial Galleries for a free talk exploring the impact and legacy of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ahead of their 80th anniversary. This August marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the first uses of nuclear weapons in warfare that resulted in the deaths of up to 220,000 people and a lifetime of suffering for many hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors). In the week of this important anniversary, this free talk will feature: An overview of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki against the historical backdrop of the War in the Pacific. Harrowing personal stories of survivors of the bombings. The role of the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces (BCOF) in the post-war occupation of Japan, including images of Hiroshima from Australian soldiers' collections. Memorials in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, their significance, and the differing narratives that dominated Hiroshima and Nagasaki's recovery.After the talk, visitors can stay to explore the Memorial Galleries, embarking on an interactive journey from the First World War to today, before taking time to reflect on the remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice in the tranquil parklands. Anzac Square Memorial Galleries is located at 285 Ann Street, Brisbane. Entry is through the brass doors located beneath the Shrine of Remembrance.

Magic Globe: A Story of the Seasons is an animated adventure that is perfect for engaging children from 5 to 12 years old. On vacation at her grandpa’s, a little girl named Mia accidentally discovers a mysterious piece of astronomical machinery. Edmund, Mia’s eccentric uncle, tricks the girl into using the tool’s secret powers to change the world’s seasons. Bands in Parks performs at the Thomas Dixon Centre. Experience the elegance of Baroque music and dance in this vibrant performance themed around historical dance. The Brisbane Baroque Players will perform on period instruments in authentic style, joined by Dance Kaleidoscope demonstrating English Country Dancing. Enjoy the sounds of harpsichord, baroque strings, and baroque wind instruments in a courtly celebration.

Volunteer Bushcare Working Bee - Bowman Park Frog Habitat Bushcare Group
Join other like-minded volunteers to help protect and restore Brisbane’s unique biodiversity through our Habitat Brisbane program. Whatever your skill level and motivation, joining your local Habitat Brisbane group is a great way to connect to nature and be active and healthy, all while meeting new people, developing new skills and making a difference to your local environment. With 160 groups across the city there’s bound to be one near you! Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects. The Bowman Park Frog Habitat Restoration Group meet the first Sunday of the month 2-3.30pm. Venue: Bowman Park, 247 Simpsons Road, Bardon.
