Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.
Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.
Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.

Meet Mitchelton Library gardeners in the meeting room to create herb, vegetable, and flower seed packs for library customers.
Sailing and kayaking
Bookings essential. A combination of catamaran sailing with an experienced skipper along the shores of Wynnum plus supervised kayaking on sit-on-tops within a confined area. This is fun for all the family. Suitable for all ages (generally 5+). Must fit one of our lifejackets (supplied).
Kayaking
Bookings essential. Come along for some fun paddling while exploring your local waterway. All equipment and instruction is provided, perfect for beginners or those with experience. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 6-17 years.
Nature Play for 5–8 years
Bookings essential. This inclusive nature play program is open to children 5-8 years. Have fun in the mud kitchen or have a go at loose parts play. This is a great opportunity for families to engage in outdoor play together, with something for every age and stage of development.
Stand-up paddle boarding
Bookings essential. Learn the basics of stand up paddle boarding. This lesson includes safety instruction, paddle techniques and activity tips. All equipment is provided and no experience is necessary. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 10-17 years.
First 5 Forever babies, books and rhymes
Meet other parents and babies for a fun session of singing, clapping and dancing. Learn songs and action rhymes to nurture your baby's pre-literacy, communication, language and social skills. Ideal for babies aged up to one year. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
