Everton Park community street tree planting
Join us for a free family-friendly tree planting event and help make Everton Park greener, cooler and more walkable. Ahead of Arbor Day on 13 October, you will have the opportunity to plant trees in your local street and help grow our urban forest. Get to know your neighbours whilst beautifying your local area.New street trees are carefully chosen to suit the site and local area. Planting holes will be dug beforehand, and all tools will be supplied.This is a great opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about the trees being planted and the important role they play in creating cooler streets, supporting local wildlife and benefiting future generations.As a thank you for participating, enjoy a free sausage sizzle after planting and take home a free native plant.What to bring:For your comfort and safety, participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, a hat, and sunscreen, and to bring a reusable water bottle.Streets to be planted include:Baden Powell Street, Barton Street, Braidwood Street, Buller Street, Burwood Road, Carawatha Street, Cootha Street, Dundonald Street, Everton Terrace, Forrest Street, French Street, Glenbrook Street, Gordon Parade, Griffin Street, Griffith Street, Hornby Street, Hunter Street, Illawarra Street, Kambala Street, Mcilwraith Street, Mitta Street, Reedan Street, Teralba Street, Warringah Street and White Street.Further details:Meet at Teralba Park (Pullen Road entrance),120 Pullen Road, Everton Park. Step into nature - Community walking group
Our new community walking group is a relaxed, social way to explore Brisbane's beautiful parks and green spaces.Walking in a group is a safe and supportive way to explore bushland, especially for those who may be unfamiliar with the area or prefer not to walk alone. Along the way, you might pick up interesting facts about local flora, fauna, and history, while enjoying the many benefits of walking, from improved health, community connection, and time in nature.Requirements: Safety first! Please wear closed-in walking shoes, bring a water bottle, and dress in sun-protective clothing including a hat and sunscreen. Walks may include uneven terrain, uphill sections of the walk.Note: This walk may be cancelled if unsafe walking conditions arise on the day, including severe weather, extreme heat, or any other hazards that may impact participant safety.

Join the fun and help celebrate World Migratory Bird Day at this lively family-friendly session where curiosity takes flight! Through hands-on activities and creative play, we'll explore the wonderful world of shorebirds - how they live, what makes them special, and why our wetlands are so important to them.This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email.Requirements:Arrive 10 minutes early to check in.Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed shoes, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent.Please bring water and a snack as there are no food outlets on site.Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Bush Kindy
Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more.Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes and activities vary each week.This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email.Bookings requirements: Maximum 5 tickets as places are limited. A ratio of 1 adult per 4 children is required. All adults and children (including infants) must have a ticket. Please cancel via Eventbrite if you cannot attend. As this event is popular and places limited, late arrival tickets will be forfeited to make way for available attendees.Requirements: Arrive minimum 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes please), sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Suitable old clothes recommended for messy play.
