Free guided tours - City Botanic Gardens
Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at the City Botanic Gardens. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's botanic gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Walk timesDaily departures at 11am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday.Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Meeting point: City Botanic Gardens Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology's Main Drive pathway).Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
Volunteer Bushcare Working Bee - Brighton Wetlands Bushcare Group
Join other like-minded volunteers to help protect and restore Brisbane's unique biodiversity through our Habitat Brisbane program.Whatever your skill level and motivation, joining your local Habitat Brisbane group is a great way to connect to nature and be active and healthy, all while meeting new people, developing new skills and making a difference to your local environment. With 160 groups across the city there's bound to be one near you!Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects.The Brighton Wetlands Bushcare Group generally meet the on third Sunday of the month 8.30-10.30am.Location: Goodenia Reserve, 93 Massie Street, Brighton.

Pollination is the essential step in producing next season's plants. The flowering plants dominate our vegetation and rely on 'help' with this process; birds, bees and even humans (bearing genes) play a role here. Some plants have specialist pollinators and may be restricted to just one species of insect.What happens when we move these plants to a new, distant location? What happens when we produce acreage of one species of plant? Take a look at some active pollinators in the garden.Requirements: Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.Meeting point: Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.
