Talk to a Planner
Talk to a Planner sessions help residents, business owners, community groups and industry professionals understand Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) and how it relates to their building and construction plans. Talk to a Planner is available all year round, with additional sessions held regularly across the city for your convenience. During these free sessions you can speak face-to-face with a planning specialist, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about how City Plan relates to your property. Council also has a team of dedicated officers who can answer simple questions about your development application over the phone during business hours (9am-4pm, Monday-Friday). To speak to an officer please phone Council on 07 3403 8888 and ask to speak with a Planning Information Officer.

The Way of Tea
Indulge in the ancient art of chado – the way of tea. The artform of tea making has been long practiced in Japan. So too has the development of the specialist production processes that create the unique flavours of Japanese artisanal teas. Delight all your senses with the subtle delicacy of Matcha, the mellow tones of Gyokuro, or enjoy the refreshing bitterness of Sencha, the nuttiness of Hoijcha and the hearty grain flavour of Genmaicha. Learn how each tea is made and the proper method to brew your tea of choice. This workshop supports the Botanic Gardens' commitment to creating a plant loving community dedicated to putting the plant back into planet. Composting and Worms
From the Ground Up is a five-part workshop series on how to garden and grow plants sustainably. The methods and practices in the workshops are designed to restore and nurture the environment and to assist you in growing your garden harmoniously with nature. Each workshop is independent of the others and you do not need to attend them all. Kitchen and garden waste is a large portion of what many households throw into the garbage bin. In this workshop we will teach you how to take these simple, free materials and turn them into beautiful “black gold”. While we all know how important earthworms are in the soil, ‘compost’ worms can provide extra help by providing castings and worm ‘tea’. Worm farming solves many of our everyday recycling issues, and also provides us with valuable nutrients for the soil. You will leave this workshop with all the knowledge you need to successfully manage your own worm farm and compost pile. Please wear a hat and enclosed shoes; and bring a snack and keep cup or water bottle. Location: Meet at the Kitchen in the Garden. Learn to maintain your bike for women (basic)
This popular course will teach you how to change a tyre and keep your bike rolling with basic maintenance tips that will save you money. Come with or without your bike. Presented as part of Council's Cycling Brisbane program.
Wheely Fun
Riding's more fun on two wheels - in just one session our friendly trainer will help your young one make the transition from training wheels or balance bike to pedalling on two wheels, and provide some tips for how you can keep encouraging them. Presented as part of Council's Cycling Brisbane program.

The workshop will cover tasks such as replacing brake blocks, tightening cables and adjusting gears. Note: If you don't already know the basics of bike maintenance, please book into one of our basic courses before this intermediate one. Please bring your bike if you have one.
