OUTDOOR GALLERY EXHIBITION 'Craig & Karl: Rear Vision'
Saturday, 14 June - Monday, 20 October 2025

OUTDOOR GALLERY EXHIBITION 'Craig & Karl: Rear Vision'

Brisbane City Council presents the latest Outdoor Gallery exhibition Craig & Karl: Rear Vision, co-curated by Carrie McCarthy and Angela Goddard, from 14 June to 20 October 2025. Craig & Karl: Rear Vision is a dynamic, playful exploration of one of Queensland's most internationally successful creative exports. With their signature visual language defined by bold colour, graphic precision and infectious joy, the exhibition features some of Craig & Karl’s most celebrated series exploring themes of community, identity, imagination and love. Co-curated by Carrie McCarthy and Angela Goddard (from Griffith University Art Museum), Craig & Karl: Rear Vision includes many works never exhibited in Australia to serve as a homecoming prelude ahead of their Australian-exclusive exhibition and major public art interventions with Griffith University Art Museum and Brisbane Festival in September 2025. Craig Redman & Karl Maier first teamed up in 1996 after meeting as students at the Queensland College of Art & Design, Brisbane. They came to attention as co-founders of design collective Rinzen before establishing themselves as collaborative duo Craig & Karl in 2011. Their beginnings in Brisbane continue to inform their practice, regularly incorporating homages to the city that helped launch their careers. Their dynamic aesthetic employs the artists’ signature message of humour, joy and optimism to explore themes of community, identity, imagination, and love.   Council’s Outdoor Gallery transforms Brisbane’s laneways and city streets into imaginative, curious and engaging spaces. We invite you to explore Brisbane’s hidden gems through Outdoor Gallery’s exhibition artworks found on light boxes and banners, in vitrines and as evening projections. For more information, on public programming and associated events visit Council’s website. Image Credit: Craig & Karl Hi! 2024. Digital print. Image courtesy of the artists.

Du foie gras sous le sapin ("Eat your heart out")
Thursday, 19 June 2025, 7:30 - 9:30pm

Du foie gras sous le sapin ("Eat your heart out")

December 2025. As France battles an unprecedented winter heatwave, three broke housemates receive bad news: their rent is about to skyrocket. In the midst of a brutal cost-of-living crisis, this blow threatens not only their already fragile budget but, even worse, their beloved Christmas tradition: the annual foie gras marathon! Faced with their increasingly precarious situation, the trio of misfits find themselves divided over one existential question: how do you respond to a world that’s becoming more dehumanised every day, other than by becoming just like it? Sharp, irreverent, and fast-paced, this original dark comedy takes a brutally honest look at our anxious times, with plenty of wit and humour along the way. This show is performed entirely in French, with English surtitles projected above the stage.

Dance Leads to Chaos
Saturday, 21 June 2025, 4 - 6pm

Dance Leads to Chaos

Dance Leads to Chaos is an artistic exploration of what it means to have dance restricted, regulated, and removed from our lives. The work gathers inspiration globally from historic bans on dance and artistic expression. Dance Leads To Chaos leans into the recent experience of Australians during the COVID-19 dance restrictions and reminds us that this has happened before to First Nations people, and other cultures around the world. Part dance work, part public service announcement, it creates a space to debrief with audiences and re-evaluate the significance of dance. We invite you to come and picnic in the Parklands with us as the sunset turns to stars.  There will be food & drink available for purchase.  Bring a rug and or pillows to make yourself comfortable.  Please let us know any access requirements when you purchase your ticket. The site is open from 3:30pm so you have time to get comfy and set up :) Presented by Bring A Plate Inclusive Dance Company in partnership with The First Creatives (Cultural Partner) and Let's Go Support Services (Access & Inclusion Partner).
