Rising Stars
A stage for tomorrow’s most exciting performers. 2024 Lev Vlassenko Winner Reuben Tsang brings elegance and clarity to Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23, before Jake Lyle (baritone) and Rebecca Goobanko (soprano) take the stage for a selection of operatic favourites from Mozart, Rossini and Lehár. The program also features Alice Chance’s bright and expressive Colourburst, Holly Harrison’s high-energy Fizzin’ Fury, and Dvořák’s spirited Scherzo capriccioso. With conductor Luke Dollman at the podium, this concert is a showcase of Queensland’s emerging talent. Stories You Wear: Magpie Goose
Celebrating Country and Culture through the bold designs of Magpie Goose. Museum of Brisbane is excited to collaborate with Magpie Goose, a proudly Aboriginal owned and led fashion and social enterprise, to celebrate extraordinary First Nations cultural stories and designs. This exclusive to Brisbane exhibition, developed in close collaboration with Magpie Goose owners Amanda Hayman (Wakka Wakka and Kalkadoon) and Troy Casey (Kamilaroi), offers a deep dive into the work of some of the region’s most talented First Nations artists and designers. Using clothing as a canvas for storytelling, this exciting collaboration will connect audiences with the rich and diverse cultural expressions of First Nations communities in Queensland and beyond. RQAS 136th Members Annual Exhibition
We invite you to experience the beauty and diversity of our members’ artwork in this year’s 136th RQAS Members Annual exhibition. Don’t miss the chance to explore the world of art through the eyes of some of Queensland’s most talented artists in this open themed exhibition. From paintings to photography; drawing to sculpture; and everything in between, RQAS Brisbane Members were invited to submit their work in a theme of their own choosing. Artist in Residence: Martin Edge
Queensland artist Martin Edge brings his playful, joy‑filled world to the Fairfax Gallery for his Artist in Residence project. Known for his vibrant scenes inspired by everyday life, from seaside moments and city adventures to his much‑loved CityCat journeys, Edge blends memory and imagination into colourful, whimsical compositions. Across three weeks, Edge will create a large‑scale mural directly onto the gallery walls, offering visitors a rare opportunity to watch his process in action and chat with him as the work evolves. Featuring bright colours, bold geometric forms and iconic Brisbane landmarks, the finished artwork will present two lively scenes of Brisbane City in Edge’s distinctive style. Artist in Residence: Renee Kire
Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways. Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Repetition, rhythm and thoughtful details invite you to slow down, look closely and discover new perspectives. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Warrajamba
Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. The Creative Space is proudly supported by Major Partner Brisbane Airport and generously supported by Ian and Cass George, and Holly and John Livingstone. Bands in Parks performs at Thomas Dixon Centre. Soak up the city skyline with the sounds of glorious strings with Vivace on the Kite Terrace at Thomas Dixon Centre. Lord Mayor's Children's Program - K-Pop Kidz!
Lord Mayor's Children's Program presents K-Pop Kidz! Get ready to kickstart the school holidays with an electrifying 55-minute K‑Pop dance spectacular that brings the colour, energy and infectious joy of K‑Pop culture to the stage of Brisbane City Hall. Featuring talented performers from Brisbane’s very own K‑Pop dance community, this high-energy show is inspired by a hit blockbuster K‑Pop kids movie and packed with everything families love about the genre. Kids are invited to dress up as their favourite K‑Pop star, learn cool new dance moves, and sing along to the music. This is the ultimate school holiday event everyone will be talking about! Accessible seating is available on the day. Why not make a day of it and check out all of the other fun activities Brisbane City has to offer? Book a City Hall Clock Tower Tour, discover Brisbane’s art and history at the Museum of Brisbane, or wander through Roma Street Parklands and seek out one of the many playgrounds.
