Volunteer Bushcare Working Bee - McDowall Bushcare Group

Bush Kindy
Discover, learn and connect with the natural wonders of the environment at Bush Kindy. Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more. Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes and activities vary each week. This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email. Booking requirements: Maximum 5 tickets. A ratio of 1 adult per 4 children is required. All adults and children (including infants) must have a ticket. As this event is popular and places limited, late arrival tickets will be forfeited to make way for available attendees. Please cancel online via Eventbrite if you cannot attend. Requirements on the day: Arrive minimum 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes please), sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Suitable old clothes recommended for messy play. Water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site. Note: All outdoor events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Discover the joy of creating a thriving, sustainable backyard garden and transforming fresh, seasonal produce into nutritious meals. Join our hands-on workshop that blends sustainable gardening techniques including worm farming and composting. Celebrate your efforts by sharing a dish prepared at the end of the session. Requirements: Please wear a hat and enclosed shoes and bring a snack and keep cup or water bottle. This workshop is only available to participants 16 years of age or over. Location: Meet at the Kitchen in the Garden. This workshop supports the Botanic Gardens' commitment to creating a plant loving community dedicated to putting the 'plant back into planet'.
