Bush Kindy
Bush Kindy is for children aged 3 - 5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more. Bush Kindy can go for up to 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes vary each week. On the day: Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, fully enclosed shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. It is recommended to bring a spare change of clothes as sessions may include messy play.Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Bush Kindy: Library stories and rhymes
Come along for a special Bush Kindy and make memories with your little ones as they take part in story-time and rhymes in the natural environment. Bush Kindy sessions can go for up to 45 minutes and themes vary each week. Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. This session is presented in partnership with Brisbane City Council Libraries and First 5 Forever. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, co-ordinated by the State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government. Children will enjoy a fun and fascinating workshop learning the basics of nature journaling. Nature journaling is the creative practice of recording your interactions with nature on paper. You can use sketches, paintings, poetry, species lists, numbers, graphs, cartoons and more. This fun, easy, relaxing practice encourages mindfulness, hones observation skills, and cultivates a sense of curiosity and wonder! Please bring your own basic sketch/art book. Twilight walk - Karawatha Rocks Track
Join Council's environment centres staff on a guided twilight walk through the beautiful tranquil surrounds of Karawatha Forest. Experience the forest at dusk, exploring 2.5km of peaceful bushland tracks. Moderate fitness required as the track has some climbs and steps. Requirements: Moderate fitness required as some tracks maybe be hilly and uneven. Arrive 15 minutes early to check-in. Please do not leave early unless it is an emergency. Wear fully enclosed shoes and bring a small torch (no headlamps), water, and insect repellent. Long sleeves and long pants recommended.
