Meet your emergency services heroes, explore emergency vehicles up close and learn simple steps you can take to prepare your home and family for severe weather.Local experts will be on hand to share practical advice, and you can view equipment, products and services to help you get ready at home, all in the one place.There will be plenty for kids and families to enjoy, including Paw Patrol shows and Meet and Greets, face painting, a jumping castle, food trucks, a sausage sizzle and more.What to bring:hat and sunscreenreusable water bottle.About the expoNow in its fifth year, the Brisbane Emergency Services Expo is a free, family-friendly event that brings emergency services, government agencies and community organisations together in one place.The Expo is a practical and fun way to get ready for storm season. Visitors can speak with local experts, view emergency service vehicles and find products and services that may help them prepare their home and property. There will be interactive displays, hands-on activities, demonstrations and entertainment for all ages.You can also learn how to create an emergency plan, prepare an emergency kit and take simple steps to help protect your household during severe weather and disasters.Venue: 7th Brigade Park (Playground 1), Delaware Street, Chermside. Once parked, follow the Downfall Creek Bikeway along Newman Road to the event.Limited street parking is available in nearby streets.Is there accessible parking?There are 4 accessible parking spaces available on Delaware Street. Note this is an alcohol-free event.Seating and shade areas will be provided, and you are welcome to bring picnic blankets if you would like to relax under the shade of trees.Are dogs allowed?Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Explore Brisbane's colonial history on this guided tour through the city's convict past.Beginning at the historic Windmill on Wickham Terrace and winding down to the river at Queens Wharf, the tour traces Brisbane's transformation between 1823 and 1842 - from a remote penal outpost to an emerging free town. Hear stories of convicts and commandants, revealing how punishment, labour and authority shaped daily life. Along the way, our guides bring the settlement into focus, illuminating the social fabric and living conditions, as well as the central role of the Brisbane River in sustaining the colony.Woven throughout the tour are First Peoples' responses to British settlement, their enduring connection to Country, and the Frontier wars that directly followed this era. Together, these intersecting stories offer a deeper understanding of how Brisbane grew from its earliest foundations into a regional centre.Tour highlights include: The Windmill, The Brisbane Crest, The Petrie Tableau, Convict-built structures and surviving remnants, Miller Park and the Commissariat Stores, Queens Wharf and, the Brisbane River.This 90‑minute, 1.75km tour is designed to suit most fitness levels, however, please note it includes walking downhill along city streets and across uneven surfaces.
