Immunisation helps protect people against diseases such as influenza, measles, whooping cough, polio and tetanus. Providing a free immunisation service is another way Council is helping deliver our Brisbane Vision.

135th Members Annual Art Exhibition

This June, the 135th RQAS Brisbane Branch Members Annual exhibition will be on show at Petrie Terrace Gallery! For this exhibition, members were invited to submit works in their own unique style and media across seven different sections. This year the exhibition will be split into two exhibitions that will run for three weeks each. From Thursday, 5th of June until Sunday, 22nd of June, section 1 (Oil and Acrylic paintings) and section 4 (sculpture) will be on display at Petrie Terrace Gallery. Then, from Thursday, 26th of June until Sunday, 13th of July, all other sections (2: Watercolour, 3: Photography/Digital art, 5: Drawing, 6: 2D Artworks, and 7: Pastels) will be exhibited. We will also be hosting two awards night: - Paintings and Sculpture - Awards Night: Thursday, 5th of June at 7pm - A Mix of Media - Awards Night: Friday, 27th of June at 7pm We look forward to seeing you in the gallery! The Royal Queensland Art Society is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.

Immerse yourself in the creative world of Blushing with this dynamic workshop, offering an exclusive opportunity to explore movement and devising techniques drawn directly from the production while engaging with Zen Zen Zo’s renowned training methodologies. Held at the Blushing Performance Venue at the Holy Trinity Church and hosted by Director and Zen Zen Zo Artistic Director, Indiah Morris.  Participants will: Step into Character: Create your own Blushing character, exploring themes of intimacy, connection, and physical storytelling. Move in Costume: Experience performing in the real costumes from the show, unlocking the unique physical language they inspire. Recreate Scenes: Learn and embody key moments from Blushing, gaining first hand insight into the creative process behind this bold, high-energy production. Train with Zen Zen Zo Techniques: Engage with the company’s core methodologies.Designed for performers, movers, and creators of all experience levels, this workshop invites you to engage with Blushing’s themes of touch and human connection while discovering the innovative training methods that define Zen Zen Zo’s approach. This workshop is held at Holy Trinity Church, 141 Brookes Street, Fortitude Valley

Bush Babies

Bush Babies

Bring your babies to Karawatha Forest and immerse them in the wonders of the outdoors. This free-form event introduces your baby to the joy of free play in nature. Bush Babies offers a safe space for families to connect with each other and their local bushland reserve. Join us for a morning of exploration and connection, where parents and children aged 0-1 can play, learn, and make new friends. Requirements: All babies must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, fully enclosed walking shoes and insect repellent. Bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site. Note: Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Nature journaling social club

Take some time out for yourself and reconnect with nature. This nature journaling social group meets at Downfall Creek Bushland Centre on the last Friday afternoon of each month (except public holidays). These informal sessions are facilitated by environment centre staff and are suitable for beginners and those who have already started journaling. After a simple introductory session, staff will lead a short, gentle guided walk to practice some nature journaling. After the activity ends, participants are welcome to continue journaling in the natural beauty of the reserve. Please bring your own basic A5 sketch/art pad and a re-usable cup to enjoy tea and coffee on arrival. What is nature journaling? Nature journaling is the practice of recording your personal interactions with nature using sketches, writing, paintings, poetry, lists, numbers, graphs, cartoons and more. This easy, relaxing practice encourages mindfulness, hones observation skills, and cultivates a sense of wonder and curiosity. Close observation of the natural world can be a wonderful form of meditative expression, and provides an opportunity for stillness, reflection, and mindful connection with nature.  Requirements:  Please bring your own basic A5 sketch/art pad and a re-usable cup. Please bring your own outdoor chair to use if required, as there may be limited seating for some sessions. Wear sun-safe clothing, sunscreen, fully enclosed walking shoes, and bring insect repellent. Bring drinking water and a snack as there are no food outlets on site.Meeting point: Picnic shelter near the basketball court. If the carpark is full, park in nearby Raven Street and walk 5 minutes through the reserve to the centre. Note: This activity will go ahead in light rain and can be delivered indoors if required. At a time when distance is the norm, and touch a radical act in a post-pandemic world, Blushing examines our internal dance between shame and curiosity. From a cast of 8 incredible Brisbane performers, witness your bodies’ evolving relationship to touch as we grow and navigate the complexities of physical contact.
