Earth Kids Homeschool Program - Wednesday mornings
Children aged 6 to 12 learn from nature, explore permaculture, ecoarts, and bushcraft, and develop social and emotional skills at our 6-session Earth Kids homeschool program, running during the Queensland school term. Earth Kids is about supporting children in learning from and with the natural world in a fun, interactive, and inclusive environment. Parents can choose to drop off their children or stay with the group. Activities The activities differ according to the season and may include: Gardening – planting, harvesting, composting, learning about bush tucker and seasonal changes; exploring what's flowering or fruiting at the farm (and tasting what is fruiting!) Earth connection – expanding the senses, wandering, nature journaling and doing other activities to support understanding of the web of life and the elements that all life is made of. Indigenous understanding – storytelling, and cultural sharing. Bushcraft - building shelters, making string, making campfires. Ecoarts – creativity using natural materials.And more - including cooking from food harvested from the farm, games, and unstructured play. Term 3, 2025 - Dates and times: Wednesday mornings, from 23 July to 3 September 2025 (EKKA break 13 August) From 9.30am to 12.30pm each day (drop off/arrival from 9.15 am and pick up until 12.45 pm).Pricing (GST incl): Early bird fees (until June 30th): $250 (general) | $190 (low-income). Immunisation helps protect people against diseases such as influenza, measles, whooping cough, polio and tetanus. Children’s storytime in the park - Wynnum Wading Pool Park, Wynnum
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government. Location: This session is held in Whale Park, near the Wynnum Jetty (around 137 Wynnum Esplanade). On-street and park parking is available nearby.

RQAS Abstraction Exhibition
Back by popular demand is the RQAS Abstraction exhibition! For this exhibition artists were invited to submit artworks in their own media and style, showing us their interpretation of an Abstract or Abstracted Artwork. This includes art that has recognisable forms, as well as more expressive styles and pure abstraction, with inspiration from movements such as Fauvism, Dadaism or Cubism. Around the world in 90 minutes! - Guided walk - City Botanic Garden
Brisbane City Botanic Gardens is home to many rare and unusual botanic species from around the world, as well as from Australia. Some of the oldest trees in these Gardens were the earliest of their species to be planted in Australia, both for their beauty and for their potential commercial value to the new state of Queensland. Today, the City Botanic Gardens has trees which are not only native to exotic countries but are also celebrated as the National Tree of those countries. Take a tour around the World within the magic of the City Botanic Gardens. Guided walks are led by City Botanic Gardens Volunteer Guides. Requirements: This walk includes moderate physical activity, including walking slightly longer distances, up gentle slopes and stairs or walking on some uneven surfaces. Some standing periods for guide explanations but no sitting. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Meeting point: Meet at the Visitor Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology's Main Drive pathway). Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
