Working with raffia and traditional Lomandra grass, Kyara creates beautifully crafted baskets, jewellery, and contemporary artworks that celebrate culture, creativity, and connection.Join Kyara for a free, hands-on weaving workshop and discover the art of traditional weaving in a welcoming and engaging setting. Alongside presenting her own creative works, she collaborates on a range of community theatre projects that celebrate storytelling, culture, and connection.Through the enchanting world of Nana Magic, young audiences are invited on a journey that highlights the importance of caring for Country, protecting native wildlife and waterways, and looking after one another. Gathering presents Toni Janke.Join us for a special performance by Toni Janke, an award-winning First Nations singer-songwriter and proud descendant of the Wuthathi, Yadhaigana and Meriam peoples.With a career spanning more than 30 years, Toni has established herself as a respected performer, songwriter, cultural leader and advocate for First Nations artists. Her acclaimed body of work includes multiple independent music releases and appearances at major festivals and events across Australia. In recognition of her commitment to inclusion and cultural diversity, Toni was honoured with an Australian Women in Music Award.Beyond her music career, Toni is the creator of Inheritance, a powerful music theatre work that weaves together storytelling and original songs to explore themes of identity, resilience and belonging. The Lord Mayor's Seniors Cabaret is a free program for Brisbane seniors. It offers expert guidance and helps develop creative talents in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Prepare, deliver, succeed - if you can dream it, you can do it!This year's theme is Legends and icons: the people, moments and music that shaped our world. This theme is a powerful way to celebrate the extraordinary individuals, defining moments and unforgettable music that have shaped generations.After completing the masterclasses, some participants perform in a showcase which are held across the city.
