Stories in Stone: Cemetery heritage and history conference

The Stories in Stone 2025 conference will share stories and insights about Queensland's old cemeteries. The varied range of wonderful presenters include cemetery historians, researchers, and volunteers; industry figures; musicians; and social media creators - every one of them passionate about preserving and exploring our memorial heritage. Their perspectives will cover cemetery protection and maintenance as a community-creating activity; innovative headstone repair schemes; cemetery folklore; cemeteries as research sources; new forms of interpretation; and cemetery management over time. The setting for this not-for-profit event is the beautiful and heritage-listed Hamilton Town Hall. This conference follows on from the successful ‘Stories in Stone’ event held at the Commissariat Store, Brisbane, in March 2024. This event is presented by the Stories in Stone committee in partnership with Brisbane Living Heritage.

Deep water running

This is an aquatic workout that uses all major muscle groups. Participants wear a buoyancy belt so there's no need to worry about being in deep water however you do require basic swimming skills. Classes will be held in the outdoor 50m pool. You must bring your own buoyancy belt for this class.

For this exhibition artists were invited to submit artworks in their own media and style, showing us their interpretation of an Abstract or Abstracted Artwork. This includes art that has recognisable forms, as well as more expressive styles and pure abstraction, with inspiration from movements such as Fauvism, Dadaism or Cubism.
