Gathering: Benjin Maza
Gathering presents Benjin Maza.Join us for a special lunchtime performance by Benjin Maza, a proud Meriam, Yidindji, Birri-Gubba and Tanna artist based in Magandjin (Brisbane).An award-winning multi-disciplinary performer, Benjin has captivated audiences across Australia and internationally through his work as a singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, playwright and director. Renowned for his ability to tell stories through music, movement and theatre, he has performed with leading arts organisations including Bangarra Dance Theatre, Queensland Theatre, Dead Puppet Society, Karul Projects, The Grin and Tonic Theatre Troupe, and Shock Therapy Arts.Throughout his career, Benjin has collaborated with acclaimed artists and productions, including performances alongside international music icons Sting and Shaggy. His work on Crossing the Divide, which he co-wrote and co-directed, earned him two Matilda Awards as both a performer and playwright.As a musician, Benjin has shared his original songs with audiences throughout South East Queensland, combining soulful melodies, sharp humour and dynamic stage presence to create memorable performances that reflect his unique perspective and storytelling style.Join us at the Queen Street Mall Main Stage from 12 noon to 1pm for an engaging lunchtime performance by Benjin Maza.This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tive Nations.

Celebrating Country and Culture through the bold designs of Magpie Goose.Museum of Brisbane is excited to collaborate with Magpie Goose, a proudly Aboriginal owned and led fashion and social enterprise, to celebrate extraordinary First Nations cultural stories and designs.This exclusive to Brisbane exhibition, developed in close collaboration with Magpie Goose owners Amanda Hayman (Wakka Wakka and Kalkadoon) and Troy Casey (Kamilaroi), offers a deep dive into the work of some of the region's most talented First Nations artists and designers.Using clothing as a canvas for storytelling, this exciting collaboration will connect audiences with the rich and diverse cultural expressions of First Nations communities in Queensland and beyond. Bush Babies Rhymetime (0-2 years)
Bring along your little ones aged 0-2 years for a relaxed session of nature-inspired rhymes and songs designed to be suitable for infants and toddlers. Enjoy time with nature and connect with other families and your local bushland reserve. Sessions will be delivered under shade or indoors if required.This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity please send an email.Requirements:Arrive minimum 10 minutes early to register.Hat, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, fully enclosed shoes, bring insect repellent.Bring water and a snack as there are no food outlets on site.Note: Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day. This event will be adapted for indoor delivery if required.

Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins.Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending.Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum.Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking.Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire's design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane's iconic Clock Tower.The Clock Tower Tour is a "must do" while in Brisbane!For many years, City Hall's Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane's tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of "taking a trip up the tower" happily continues at Museum of Brisbane.The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane's oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia's largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Join award-winning world-folk sextet MZAZA for a rare and intimate evening at Brisbane's Thomas Dixon Centre, featuring brand-new songs in development alongside beloved favourites.As the band prepares for its next album, Songs in the Making offers audiences a unique opportunity to experience the creative process first-hand, with their reactions helping shape the music before it reaches the recording studio.Blending accordion, violin, shah kaman, double bass, percussion and guitar with expressive vocals in French and English, MZAZA delivers a rich and captivating world-folk sound.
