Clairvaux MacKillop College's 2026 Battle of the ROCK Bands
Clairvaux MacKillop College's Battle of the ROCK Bands Festival is Queensland's premier school-aged music festival, showcasing talented young musicians from competing schools across the state.Across three exciting nights, 30 school rock bands take to the stage, with 10 different bands performing each evening. Celebrating Country and Culture through the bold designs of Magpie Goose.Museum of Brisbane is excited to collaborate with Magpie Goose, a proudly Aboriginal owned and led fashion and social enterprise, to celebrate extraordinary First Nations cultural stories and designs.This exclusive to Brisbane exhibition, developed in close collaboration with Magpie Goose owners Amanda Hayman (Wakka Wakka and Kalkadoon) and Troy Casey (Kamilaroi), offers a deep dive into the work of some of the region's most talented First Nations artists and designers.Using clothing as a canvas for storytelling, this exciting collaboration will connect audiences with the rich and diverse cultural expressions of First Nations communities in Queensland and beyond. Audrey Gibbs Art Prize
Audrey Gibbs joined the Royal Queensland Art Society in 1983 and was recognised as a Fellow of the society in 2009. This exhibition explores genre artworks, one of Audrey's great pleasures.This exhibition focuses on Genre Artworks, one of Audrey's favourite themes to paint. Genre Artworks are those that depict ordinary people in everyday situations, both in the exterior and the interior. Rather than heroic or mythological subjects, these works celebrate the familiar: everyday people participating in domestic routines, work, leisure, social gatherings, and quiet moments of daily life.The Royal Queensland Art Society is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.
Lord Mayor's Photographic Awards 2026
Brisbane through the lens of local photographers.The winners exhibition of the 2026 Lord Mayor's Photographic Awards brings together striking photographic works that capture the city's spirit - from familiar streets and riverside scenes to the fleeting moments, routines and characters that make Brisbane feel like home.New this year, the Brisbane Postcards Collection category invites photographers to showcase Brisbane's charm and energy through images that locals recognise, and visitors instantly fall in love with. Selected winning works will be available as collectible postcards at MoB Shop.Open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Brisbane, the 2026 Awards celebrate what makes our city unique through this year's theme, Everyday Brisbane.For more information, visit our website.From 3 to 31 August 2026, the Brisbane Airport Pop-Up Exhibition will showcase a range of exciting artworks at two locations within the Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal for travellers and visitors to enjoy. Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins.Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending.Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene's powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell.Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story.MoB's Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC.The Creative Space is proudly supported by Major Partner Brisbane Airport and generously supported by Ian and Cass George, and Holly and John Livingstone.Warrajamba is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.Museum of Brisbane is Brisbane City Council's leading history and art museum where you can experience our city's vibrant culture.
Music on Sundays 5: Old Worlds, New Sounds
A high-voltage program led by Chief Conductor Umberto Clerici.The concert opens with an overture by First Nations composer Christopher Sainsbury before Violinist Catherina Lee takes the spotlight in Bruch's soaring Violin Concerto.Then Dvořák's Slavonic Dances bursts with folk rhythm and fire. Before Bizet's Carmen Suite brings drama and irresistible melody, from the sultry Habanera to the swagger of Les Toréadors.Australian composer Holly Harrison also adds a jolt of the unexpected with Hi Vis, a groovy piece with plenty of bite.Rich, cinematic, and full of flair, that is music that grabs you from the first note.Queensland Symphony Orchestra is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.
Lord Mayor's Seniors Cabaret Showcase
The Lord Mayor's Seniors Cabaret is a free program for Brisbane seniors. It offers expert guidance and helps develop creative talents in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Prepare, deliver, succeed - if you can dream it, you can do it!This year's theme is Legends and icons: the people, moments and music that shaped our world. This theme is a powerful way to celebrate the extraordinary individuals, defining moments and unforgettable music that have shaped generations.After completing the masterclasses, some participants perform in a showcase which are held across the city. Through song, music, dance and spoken word, performers bring to life a soundtrack of social change, unity, hope and celebration.Come along and support these wonderful, talented seniors at a Lord Mayor's Cabaret Showcase.The Lord Mayor's Seniors Cabaret program is producer by Chris Fennessy, Epiphany Productions (Aust).
Bands in Parks: Jacarandas and Jazz
Bands in Parks performs at New Farm Park.Jacarandas are blooming and the jazz is hot.Delicious food from local food trucks will be available so join us for an afternoon of jazz and swing in New Farm Park under the blossoms of the jacarandas with the fabulous Peter Vance and Rachel Pearse and the Brass Roots Live band and musicians from the Jazz Music Institute.

Seniors art exhibition
Celebrate the creativity and artistic achievements of Brisbane's senior artists at the annual Seniors Art Exhibition.From 12 to 16 October 2026, visitors can explore a diverse collection of artworks created by participants of the City Hall Fifty Plus Centre Art Classes, including works from accomplished artists including Terry Hadnutt, whose portrait of Slim Dusty was awarded Grand Champion in the 2026 Ekka Painting and Drawing Section, and acclaimed artist Archana Bose, whose artwork is featured in the accompanying image.The exhibition will be displayed in The People's Gallery, City Hall's ground floor corridor gallery spaces, and will be open to the public daily from 8am to 5pm. Artwork on display will also be available for purchase (cash sales only).Presented as part of Queensland Seniors Month, the exhibition showcases the talent, creativity and lifelong learning of older Queenslanders.
