OUTDOOR GALLERY EXHIBITION 'Craig & Karl: Rear Vision'
Brisbane City Council presents the latest Outdoor Gallery exhibition Craig & Karl: Rear Vision, co-curated by Carrie McCarthy and Angela Goddard, from 14 June to 20 October 2025. Craig & Karl: Rear Vision is a dynamic, playful exploration of one of Queensland's most internationally successful creative exports. With their signature visual language defined by bold colour, graphic precision and infectious joy, the exhibition features some of Craig & Karl’s most celebrated series exploring themes of community, identity, imagination and love. Co-curated by Carrie McCarthy and Angela Goddard (from Griffith University Art Museum), Craig & Karl: Rear Vision includes many works never exhibited in Australia to serve as a homecoming prelude ahead of their Australian-exclusive exhibition and major public art interventions with Griffith University Art Museum and Brisbane Festival in September 2025. Craig Redman & Karl Maier first teamed up in 1996 after meeting as students at the Queensland College of Art & Design, Brisbane. They came to attention as co-founders of design collective Rinzen before establishing themselves as collaborative duo Craig & Karl in 2011. Their beginnings in Brisbane continue to inform their practice, regularly incorporating homages to the city that helped launch their careers. Their dynamic aesthetic employs the artists’ signature message of humour, joy and optimism to explore themes of community, identity, imagination, and love. Council’s Outdoor Gallery transforms Brisbane’s laneways and city streets into imaginative, curious and engaging spaces. We invite you to explore Brisbane’s hidden gems through Outdoor Gallery’s exhibition artworks found on light boxes and banners, in vitrines and as evening projections. 2025 Brisbane Anywhere Festival
A festival of performances where Brisbane's undiscovered backyards, businesses, bus stops and warehouses become the stage, anywhere but where you'd expect it. From theatre on rooftops, warehouses and beaches, music in planetariums and backyards, comedy, immersive shows and performances popping up in bus stops all around Brisbane, there is no other festival that mixes the excitement of performance while discovering nooks and crannies of Brisbane. WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!
La Boite Theatre and Dead Puppet Society Present A World Premiere of WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE! I WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE! is a high-octane comedy of monsters and heroes that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Off the coast of Queensland, deep in the Pacific Ocean, something terrifying is stirring. Meanwhile, in Brisbane, a local student feels the tremors of its approach. No one listens to her warnings, and as the beast draws closer, she must decide what’s more dangerous—the monster, or the society that created it. Equal parts climate change thriller, schlock horror, and live-action comic book, WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE! is Godzilla meets The Betoota Advocate, created for a post - Greta Thunberg world. Written by Maddie Nixon, directed by David Morton (Dead Puppet Society) and Courtney Stewart, with original music by Dean Hanson (Ball Park Music), this is a show you don’t want to sleep on! What will you collect? Welcome to Micro Museum – a space for telling stories through objects. You are invited to explore the fascinating world of collecting, and uncover the memories that objects hold. Inspired by major exhibition Precious in this space you are the curator. You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own. Venus and Buttercup: Cowkeepers Extraordinaire
Presented by Joanne Tindale with Brisbane Anywhere Festival, 'Buttercup and Venus: Cowkeepers Extraordinaire' is a slightly absurd short play about the loss of usefulness and the meaning of family. Ageing dairy cows Buttercup and Venus are Cowkeepers; housekeepers and surrogate parents, to 17-year-old Charlie and eleven-year-old Maxime. In this alternative world, dairy cows are bonded with a child from birth to the age of 18. As Charlie is about to turn 18, Venus must look for another job and accommodation or risk homelessness. Venue: The Paint Factory, 115 Hyde Road, Yeronga This project is supported by a Creative Sparks grant. The Creative Sparks grant is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council to support local arts and culture in Brisbane.

Metamorphosis
Delivered as part of Anywhere Festival, Metamorphosis is a theatrical and audio-visual Kaleidoscope. Calvin Smith has written an altogether gut-wrenching and yet hilarious and inspiring work; an emotional rollercoaster. You will laugh, and cry, and discover together that, although there is much work to be done for men to transform into metaphorical “butterflies”, there is hope that we can mend men’s hearts and work together for a better world. RQAS Abstraction Exhibition - Opening and Awards Night
Back by popular demand is the RQAS Abstraction exhibition! For this exhibition artists were invited to submit artworks in their own media and style, showing us their interpretation of an Abstract or Abstracted Artwork. This includes art that has recognisable forms, as well as more expressive styles and pure abstraction, with inspiration from movements such as Fauvism, Dadaism or Cubism. On Saturday, 2nd of August at 7pm, we invite you to the opening of the exhibition where we will be announcing the winners. Drinks will be available for purchase, and nibbles will be provided. She Works Hard For (No) Money
Ever wonder how the dishwasher magically loads itself? Or how the farewell card appears at exactly the right time when someone retires? Welcome to the world of She Works Hard For (No) Money — a black comedy that dives headfirst into the chaotic circus of unpaid labour. From “I don’t know where the towels are kept!” to “Just tell me what to do!”, this show uncovers the comedy and tragedy of weaponised incompetence — the art of pretending not to know, so you don’t have to do the boring stuff. And we’re not naming names, but if the shoe fits (and he can find it), maybe that man in your life needs a wake-up call. Written by Samantha Hill, this hilariously infuriating comedy of labours will be transplanted into a real office space for the Anywhere Festival. It’ll be just like being at work: you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and then you’ll stuff yourself with cake… This event is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council. Manly Creative Markets
The Manly Creative Markets operates Every Sunday (except when Christmas Day is on a Sunday!) from 8am until 2pm, as an alternative retail outlet for local and regional creative talent, and is definitely not a flea market. You will find artisan wares, arts & crafts, plants, great coffee, entertainment, massage, fashion, pet items and so much more at the Manly Creative Markets in Little Bayside Park every Sunday. Free parking in the surrounding streets.
Empowering Migrants Expo 2025
The Empowering Migrants Expo 2025, hosted by Bhartiya Samaj, is a premier event dedicated to supporting and empowering migrant communities by providing essential resources, networking opportunities and a sense of belonging. Bands in Parks: Dancing Through the Baroque
Bands in Parks performs at the Thomas Dixon Centre. Experience the elegance of Baroque music and dance in this vibrant performance themed around historical dance. The Brisbane Baroque Players will perform on period instruments in authentic style, joined by Dance Kaleidoscope demonstrating English Country Dancing. Enjoy the sounds of harpsichord, baroque strings, and baroque wind instruments in a courtly celebration.

Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts - A Grand Affair with Brass Band and Organ
Lord Mayor's City Hall Concert presents A Grand Affair with Brass Band and Organ. It is always a grand affair when the spectacular Father Henry Willis Organ, played by organist Phillip Gearing, is paired with the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Brass Band, under the baton of Howard Taylor. This collaboration has become somewhat of a tradition over the past few years, with concerts celebrating everything from movie themes to the Best of British. This grand concert will be another affair to remember! This Lord Mayor's City Hall Concert is produced by Anje West, in partnership with Council's Bands in Parks producer, Brisbane Metropolitan Bands, Helen Johns.
