Kids yoga
Join us for yoga in the park, it's fun and exciting! Breathe in the fresh air, stretch like your favorite animals under the trees, and try out some awesome poses. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 5-10 years.

Botanical treasure hunt
Crack the clues to discover the natural treasures hidden within the Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha. Work alone or in a group and explore the Botanic Gardens to solve this exciting treasure hunt. We have an activity suitable for ages 12 and under, with 2 age appropriate treasure hunt activities to choose from. Please bring a pencil or pen and wear a hat and enclosed shoes. This is a self-guided activity as you wander the botanic gardens. Collect your treasure hunt flyer from the Visitor Information Centre.

Obstacle challenge
Bookings essential. Challenge your whole body with this introduction to obstacle course racing. Learn some new skills and techniques that will help you run and overcome obstacles. Great for building strength and fitness. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 12-17 years.

Little Explorers: Yoga for kids
Join a family-friendly yoga session for beginners aged 5 years and up. Play, stretch, and move while soaking up the natural beauty of the bushland setting. Participants can do what they can and go at their own pace. Please bring a yoga mat per participant (you may bring a towel, but a mat is preferred). After the session, visit the environment centre or continue relaxing in nature by exploring nearby walking tracks in the reserve. Requirements: Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. Please bring a yoga mat per participant (you may bring a towel, but a mat is preferred). Wear sun-safe clothing, enclosed shoes, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Bring water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site.Note: This activity can be adapted for indoor delivery in the event of rain. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Josephine Wants to Dance
This winter school holidays, Jackie French and Bruce Whatley’s beloved story leaps from page to stage in ‘Josephine Wants to Dance’. Join a determined kangaroo as she chases her dreams in this fun-filled, heart warming musical for young audiences. Diving
Bookings essential. Jump on board and get coached how to leap off springboards safely with an opportunity to transition into the sport of diving. Participants must be confident in deep water. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 6-17 years.

Learn new skills on your scooter that will help you ride skate parks safetly and have more fun! This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 4-17 years.

Nature play
Bookings essential. Have fun in the mud kitchen or have a go at loose parts play. This is a great opportunity for families to engage in outdoor play together, with something for every age and stage of development. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 5-12 years.

Who drops a lot
Do plants feel the cold? Some trees seem to clutch their leaves tightly to them during the winter months and some like to drop them all and go naked. Come explore our Temperate Region Plants Garden during our Winter Hub school holiday activities and see ‘who drops a lot’. Collect fallen leaves, make leaf rubbings and tracings, sketch, colour and write about your favourite Autumn leaf. Explore leaf shape, colour and venation and take home a leafy journey stick of your winter fun. All materials provided. Requirements: Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult. Please wear a hat and enclosed shoes; and bring a keep cup or water bottle. Bring a picnic blanket and lunch to enjoy on our grassy lawn. Location: Meet at Temperate Garden. This workshop supports the Botanic Gardens' commitment to creating a plant loving community dedicated to putting the plant back into Planet.

Martial Arts

What will you collect? Welcome to Micro Museum – a space for telling stories through objects. You are invited to explore the fascinating world of collecting, and uncover the memories that objects hold. Inspired by major exhibition Precious in this space you are the curator. You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own.

Polish your peepers! You never know what you might spot. There is plenty for little eyes to spy with this free MoB Kids activity sheet. Transform your Museum visit into an exciting game of Eye Spy and discover details you might otherwise have missed. Can you spot the flowers? This playful Museum experience will immerse you in all manners of local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions. Ask our friendly staff at MoB reception when you arrive. Junior explorers: Wild about plants!
Go wild about native Aussie plants these school holidays! Discover fascinating facts about some of our native plants, track down clues on a useful plants scavenger hunt challenge, get creative and experiment with plants, fibres, and other natural materials, and taste some commercial 'bush foods' made from native plant ingredients. Along the way you’ll learn why native plants are crucial for healthy habitats and how growing native plants can help us improve biodiversity in our bushlands, backyards, and balconies. Requirements: Arrive 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be directly supervised by an adult booked into the activity. All participants please wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed shoes (no thongs or open shoes please), sunscreen, and insect repellent. Long sleeves and long pants recommended. Please bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site.Note: This event will go ahead in light rain and may be adapted for indoors if required. Find out why poo is a clue! We don't always see animals but we often find evidence of them. Build your wildlife detective skills at this fun hands-on activity all about tracks, scats, and habitats! Explore the reserve, learn bush observation skills, identify native animals and plants and discover simple actions we can take to protect bushland habitats. After the activity, visit the environment centre and explore the beautiful natural surroundings of the reserve. Requirements: Arrive 10 minutes early to check in.
