Sherwood Arboretum guided walk

Sherwood Arboretum, established in 1925, is Brisbane’s only botanic garden dedicated exclusively to growing Australian native trees. The Arboretum holds scientific and cultural values with many of the original plantings undertaken by prominent citizens of Brisbane. The guided walk will be led by the Volunteer Guides of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and the Friends of Sherwood Arboretum. Requirements: Wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Meeting point: Meet at the shelter adjacent to the main carpark off Jolimont Street, Sherwood. Age: Open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Featuring talented performers from Brisbane’s very own K‑Pop dance community, this high-energy show is inspired by a hit blockbuster K‑Pop kids movie and packed with everything families love about the genre. Kids are invited to dress up as their favourite K‑Pop star, learn cool new dance moves, and sing along to the music. This is the ultimate school holiday event everyone will be talking about! Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Repetition, rhythm and thoughtful details invite you to slow down, look closely and discover new perspectives. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city.
