Gathering presents Robyn Hourigan Weaving is a tradition that Robyn Hourigan learned from her cousin. A proud Bundjalung woman, she uses mainly raffia, sourced from palm trees and more traditionally, lomandra grass - creating a range of items like earrings, baskets, and bookmarks. Join us at Gathering on Wednesday 22 October as Robyn facilitates a live weaving workshop at the main stage of Queen Street Mall between 12 noon and 1pm. This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tiveNations. Gathering showcases Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performances in the Queen Street Mall. Unique to Brisbane, it is the only Indigenous performance in Australia that is featured weekly in the heart of a major capital city.

Children’s storytime in the park - Rocks Riverside Park, Seventeen Mile Rocks
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.

Craig & Karl: Double Vision
Craig & Karl: Double Vision is a dynamic, playful exploration of one of Queensland's most internationally successful creative exports. Employing Craig & Karl’s signature visual language, defined by bold colour, graphic precision, and infectious joy, the exhibition explores the artists’ three-decade-long creative partnership, their influence on global public art and design trends, and the enduring impact of Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art & Design, where the artists first met almost 30 years ago. Free guided tour - City Botanic Gardens
Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at the City Botanic Gardens. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. The walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.
