About This Event
Join us for a special Bush Kindy, making memories with your little ones as they take part in outdoor, child-led play. Be prepared to get a little messy! Bush Kindy is for children aged 3 - 5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through unstructured, open-ended play with natural materials. Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, email KFDC@brisbane.qld.gov.au Requirements: Arrive minimum 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes), sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Suitable old clothes recommended for messy play. Water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site. Note: All outdoor events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at the City Botanic Gardens. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. The walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Location: Meet at the City Botanic Gardens Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology’s Main Drive pathway). Gathering: Bingkin Ngugi
Gatheirng presents Bingkin Ngugi. Bingkin Ngugi (Dean Tyson) is a story holder, a mundu (didgeridoo) musician/song man and celebrated Goori artist. Bingkin tells of Goori education from traditional dreaming stories and the Lore and also demonstrates cultural artefacts and other tools and weaponry. Bingkin shares knowledge of the Goori way of life & Goori way of thinking, always was and always will be Goori Land.
