About This Event
Aside from being beautiful – what purpose do flowers have? How are they the same, but different? From big, bright and colourful blossoms such as orchids, hibiscus and dahlias, to the simple, small or unassuming flowers of cosmos, tea-trees and grass - they are all part of the plant’s reproductive structures. Come explore the botanic gardens through our Spring Hub school holiday activities and check out our flower power with the kids. Take a walk to see the range of shapes, colours, sizes and scents that flowers come in, make your own flowers, or sketch, colour and write about your favourite blossom. Explore how a flower’s size, colour and shape attract specific pollinators, learn the parts of a flower and make your own blooming flower. Bring a picnic blanket and lunch to enjoy on our grassy lawn. Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult. Location: Meet at the Kitchen garden. For more information email BotGardensSHA@brisbane.qld.gov.au This workshop supports the Botanic Gardens' commitment to creating a plant loving community dedicated to putting the plant back into planet.
