Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at the City Botanic Gardens. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. The walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Winter Solstice Festival 2025
The Winter Solstice Festival returns on Saturday, 28th June - a night of fire, community & connection under the stars! This year’s theme, Seeds for the Future, celebrates the wisdom of the past whilst sowing the seeds for an abundant, regenerative future. Just as the Winter Solstice marks the turning of the seasons, a seed holds the promise of new beginnings. Step into a world of connection and contemplation as we celebrate the longest night of the year! Sherwood Arboretum guided walk
Sherwood Arboretum, established in 1925, is Brisbane’s only botanic garden dedicated exclusively to growing Australian native trees. The Arboretum holds scientific and cultural values with many of the original plantings undertaken by prominent citizens of Brisbane. The guided walk will be led by the volunteer guides of Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and the Friends of Sherwood Arboretum. Requirements: Wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Meeting point: Meet at the shelter adjacent to the main carpark off Jolimont Street, Sherwood. Age: Open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
