About This Event
Improve your knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues and histories. Our group seeks to assist members of the community to start a reconciliation journey through reading and discussing selected texts in an informal and friendly setting. In June, read and discuss Dirrayawadha by Anita Heiss. In July, read and discuss The Queen is Dead, the Time Has Come for a Reckoning by Stan Grant.

Free guided tour - Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha
Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Opera in the Gardens
Opera in the Gardens features a programme of arias from opera, light opera and musicals. This year's theme is "A Magical Winter Garden Experience" and celebrates songs inspired by love, seasons, passion and the beauty of winter. Come along to enjoy a delightful afternoon listening to exquisite music in the stunning sub-tropical surrounds of the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. Tour familiar stellar formations, explore new celestial mysteries, and discover the fascinating, unfolding story that connects us all to the stars. Those who come along for the journey may never see the night sky in the same way again. Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky.
