About This Event
Join us for a unique and inspiring one-hour workshop where you’ll explore your connection with plants through vibrant collages. Artist Rachel Apelt will lead you in creating imaginative interpretations of the diverse plant life found in the Boondall Wetlands.
This workshop is designed to ignite your curiosity about the natural world, encouraging you to observe plants more closely and appreciate their lifecycles and seasonal changes. Through drawing, paper cutting and gluing, you'll bring your botanical visions to life.
Arrive early to embark on a self-guided walk and let the plants that capture your attention be your inspiration for the workshop.
Requirements: Please arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Please wear a hat, fully enclosed shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Please bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site.Note: This event will go ahead in light rain. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Our favourite cheeky dog is blasting off to discover the red planet, Mars. Tycho is in search of water to fly his steam-powered space kennel back home. But how will he find water on Mars, when it looks so cold, dusty and dry? Produced by Melbourne Planetarium at Scienceworks, Museums Victoria. Free guided tour - Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha
Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
Bands in Parks: Jazz at the Bandstand
Bands in Parks performs at New Farm Park. Brisbane City Big Band joins students from Hillbrook Anglican School with a program of jazz, from small ensembles to big bands. Bring a picnic rug and chair and sit back and enjoy a lunchtime of music at the rotunda in beautiful New Farm Park.

The Buzz about Native Bees - Special Walk - Brisbane Botanic Garden
Join a volunteer guide on a walk to celebrate native bees in our gardens on World Bee Day. Come on a bee hunt and find out who is visiting the flowers, collecting pollen, nectar and resin. Discover fascinating facts about these little creatures and how they fit into our ecosystem. Join us on a gentle walk where you'll hear the the buzz about Native Bees. Requirements: This walk requires average physical activity, including walking distances up to 500m, possibly some uneven ground but mainly paved paths. Stops are short and mainly for guide explanations. Some short standing periods or sitting if required. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
