Congratulations, Get Rich! is a wild, hilarious rush that revels in the messy joy of being alive.
It’s a big night for Mandy. Her heart and soul—her karaoke business—is failing. In a last-ditch attempt to save it, she’s hosting a mega-event: a reunion dinner special!
Things take an unexpected turn when two women arrive. Mandy instantly recognises one as her mother, who died by suicide over two decades ago. But who is the other woman? What do they want, and why are they here?
Penned and performed by Merlynn Tong (Golden Blood), this explosive musical comedy celebrates the vibrancy of Singaporean culture, centering on three powerful women in a supernatural tale.
Directed by La Boite Artistic Director Courtney Stewart, Tong stars alongside Singapore’s Seong Hui Xuan, and beloved Queenslander Kimie Tsukakoshi (The Poison of Polygamy).
Congratulations, Get Rich! is a fresh Asian-Australian story exploring transformation, legacy, and hope. With humour and heart, it asks if we are all bound to our fate – or whether we can in fact escape the shadows of our past to create our own future

Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government. Craig & Karl: Double Vision is a dynamic, playful exploration of one of Queensland's most internationally successful creative exports. Employing Craig & Karl’s signature visual language, defined by bold colour, graphic precision, and infectious joy, the exhibition explores the artists’ three-decade-long creative partnership, their influence on global public art and design trends, and the enduring impact of Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art & Design, where the artists first met almost 30 years ago. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
