Bands in Parks: Jazz at the Bandstand

Bands in Parks performs at New Farm Park. Brisbane City Big Band joins students from Hillbrook Anglican School with a program of jazz, from small ensembles to big bands. Bring a picnic rug and chair and sit back and enjoy a lunchtime of music at the rotunda in beautiful New Farm Park.

What will you collect? Welcome to Micro Museum – a space for telling stories through objects. You are invited to explore the fascinating world of collecting, and uncover the memories that objects hold. Inspired by major exhibition Precious in this space you are the curator. You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own.

Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Bush Kindy: Library stories and rhymes

Come along for a special Bush Kindy and make memories with your little ones as they take part in story-time and rhymes in the natural environment. Bush Kindy sessions can go for up to 45 minutes and themes vary each week. Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. This session is presented in partnership with Brisbane City Council Libraries and First 5 Forever. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, co-ordinated by the State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government. Requirements: Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in at the environment centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring drinking water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. Suitable old play clothes recommended as sessions may include messy play.Note: Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Join Environment Centre staff on an early morning walk and improve your bird identification skills while exploring Raven St Reserve. Environment Centre staff will guide you through their tips and tricks to observing birds while providing fun information on what you might see while out in the suburban bush. Binoculars supplied or please bring your own if you have them. Requirements: Wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent. Please bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. Note: Any walks or outdoor activities are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Asia Pacific Triennial Kids

The Queensland Art Gallery │ Gallery of Modern Art (QAOGMA) Children’s Art Centre presents a collection of seven artist projects for Asia Pacific Triennial Kids. Children can explore their creativity through making and multimedia interactives and reflect on the experiences of others through drawing and video works by artists from India, Aotearoa New Zealand, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia / Palestine, Cambodia and Timor-Leste.
