RQAS Abstraction Exhibition
Back by popular demand is the RQAS Abstraction exhibition! For this exhibition artists were invited to submit artworks in their own media and style, showing us their interpretation of an Abstract or Abstracted Artwork. This includes art that has recognisable forms, as well as more expressive styles and pure abstraction, with inspiration from movements such as Fauvism, Dadaism or Cubism. You are invited to explore the fascinating world of collecting, and uncover the memories that objects hold. Inspired by major exhibition Precious in this space you are the curator. You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own. Guided walk of the Billai Dhagun Track
Learn about the unique plants and animals of the wetlands on this gentle, easy, all abilities 2km walk. A volunteer guide will lead you around the trail, visiting the Bird Hide, observe distinct changes in vegetation, and discover why Boondall Wetlands is an internationally important conservation area. After the walk, visitors can enjoy other nearby walking tracks, relax in the picnic area, and visit Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre. Requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure and fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site. Note: Walks are subject to weather and environmental conditions.

Karawatha Forest Discovery Walk
Join this informative guided walk around one of the many tracks in Karawatha Forest. A volunteer guide will lead you through the forest and identify many of the native flora and fauna you will see along the way. After the walk, visitors can enjoy other nearby walking tracks, relax in the picnic area, and visit Karawatha Forest Discovery Centre. Requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult. Bands in Parks: In the Spirit of Adventure
Bands in Parks performs at City Hall. Ignite your sense of wanderlust and wonder with LawchestraQ as they transport you to faraway lands and untamed realms. From sweeping symphonic landscapes to adventurous movie medleys, join us for an afternoon that will inspire your inner adventurer. Music includes an arrangement of Jupiter by Gustav Holst and Gliere’s Russian Sailors Dance from the Red Poppy and other adventures. There will be afternoon tea and scones available for purchase as well as wine and cheese packs. Make it an afternoon out – invite family and friends for an afternoon at City Hall.

Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts - The Magic of Gatsby
Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts presents The Magic of Gatsby. Midnight Jazz brings the spirit of the roaring 1920s to life with fresh, vibrant renditions of jazz classics. Formed in Brisbane during their Bachelor of Jazz Music studies, the group features Meredith Brothers (piano), Stephanie Larman (vocals), Jeremy Klysz (double bass), Evan Evans (drums), and Ken Chow (tenor saxophone). Their dynamic performances breathe new life into timeless tunes like Stardust and Ain’t Misbehavin’, blending nostalgia with innovative arrangements. Gathering presents Cool the Kid. With his nostalgic take on classic R&B and Hip-Hop influences, Zeek Power merges his love for storytelling with a sound that seems alternative and unique, yet familiar in its ability to make the listener feel instantly at home. For some great lunch time entertainment join us from 12 noon-1pm. This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tiveNations. Gathering showcases Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performances in the Queen Street Mall. Unique to Brisbane, it is the only Indigenous performance in Australia that is featured weekly in the heart of a major capital city.

This eclectic and exciting Exhibition and Gallery Shop features the work of eight prominent Brisbane artists. Stories in Stone: Cemetery heritage and history conference
The Stories in Stone 2025 conference will share stories and insights about Queensland's old cemeteries. The varied range of wonderful presenters include cemetery historians, researchers, and volunteers; industry figures; musicians; and social media creators - every one of them passionate about preserving and exploring our memorial heritage. Their perspectives will cover cemetery protection and maintenance as a community-creating activity; innovative headstone repair schemes; cemetery folklore; cemeteries as research sources; new forms of interpretation; and cemetery management over time. The setting for this not-for-profit event is the beautiful and heritage-listed Hamilton Town Hall. This conference follows on from the successful ‘Stories in Stone’ event held at the Commissariat Store, Brisbane, in March 2024. This event is presented by the Stories in Stone committee in partnership with Brisbane Living Heritage.
