Children’s storytime in the park - Dorrington Park, Ashgrove
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.

Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. The walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Location: Meet at the City Botanic Gardens Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology’s Main Drive pathway). Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts - 守破離 – Shu Ha Ri
Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts presents 守破離 – Shu Ha Ri. Performed by Gen絃 as part of BrisAsia Festival 2026. 守破離 守破離 – Shu Ha Ri means to bridge between tradition and innovation. Brisbane-based koto master Takako Haggarty joins forces with award-winning guitarist and composer Phill Wilson to explore the evolving boundary between classical Japanese music and contemporary interpretation, rooted in decades of disciplined training in their respective traditions. This one-day special concert features guest artists Carl Rathus on the meditative shakuhachi (Bamboo flute) and the graceful Japanese dance by Junko Thompson. This unique performance invites audiences into a world of refined sound, elegant movement and a finely balanced harmony between past and present. This Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert is produced by Salubrious Productions.
