About This Event
Go wild and discover edible Australian native plants at Boondall Wetlands reserve. Join environment centre staff on a gentle guided walk along the Tulla-yugaipa dhagun track (place of useful plants) showcasing some of the wild edible plants used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and colonial peoples, as well as some other surprising uses. Note, collecting plants is not permitted in this protected conservation reserve.
After the walk, join a short tasting session where you can try some foods prepared using native plants and find out more about some of the ‘bush food’ native plants suitable for backyards and balconies in Brisbane.

Requirements: Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the environment centre. Wear sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Bring water and a snack as there are no food outlets on site. Note: This event will go ahead in light rain and can be adapted for indoors if required. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Native wildlife live all around us - from our backyards, to local parks and nature reserves. But have you had a chance to meet them up close? Join our wildlife expert as they introduce you to amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds. Learn more about these unique Australian animals and how you can help your wildlife neighbours. Requirements: Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sun-smart clothing and sunscreen as some shows may take place outside. Bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site.
