About This Event
Quiet hours at Karawatha Forest Discovery Centre are an opportunity to explore the Centre at your own pace. During quiet hours, we dim the lights, lower the sounds and pause some activities. This creates a soothing space for you to explore at your own pace.
This designated time is intended for those who prefer or may benefit from a quieter and more relaxed surrounding. This may include those with autism, sensory sensitivities, disabilities, dementia, mental health conditions, chronic illnesses or anyone who prefers less sensory stimulation.

Clock Tower Tour

For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Bookings essential. Pilates helps you strengthen and stretch simultaneously through core-based exercises. Join anytime. This is a GOLD event suitable for seniors.
Stretch and mobility
Bookings essential. Increase your flexibility, mobility, balance and range of movement. This class will include stretching and activation exercises designed to lengthen and strengthen your body and posture in a relaxed group setting. Specifically targeted to suit active older adults and those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. This is a GOLD event suitable for seniors.
Free guided tour - Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha
Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at the City Botanic Gardens. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. The walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Location: Meet at the City Botanic Gardens Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology’s Main Drive pathway). Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
Gentle fitness and Tai-chair
Bookings essential. Focus on aerobic fitness, strengthening with light weights, flexibility, coordination and balance followed by relaxation with gentle exercises. The session is performed either seated on a chair or standing while holding onto a chair for stability and support. No floor work. This is a GOLD event suitable for seniors.
Zumba Gold®
Bookings essential. Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity. Learn easy-to-follow choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. This is a GOLD event suitable for seniors.
