Come and join us for a day of vibrant Japanese culture at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Immerse yourself in a variety of exciting free events including calligraphy demonstrations, tea ceremonies, bonsai displays, ikebana arrangements, enchanting koto performances and try out a range of food from local food trucks.Japanese Cultural Day is suitable for all ages with something for everyone.Grab an event program from the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre on the day or look up Japanese Cultural day on Council's website.This event is made in partnership with Brisbane City Council and the Consulate-General of Japan, Brisbane.Getting to the Gardens: Free parking is available in the garden's main carpark and fills up quickly on weekends. Overflow parking is available in an additional carpark adjacent to the site, accessible via Ada Street.Bus routes stop right in the gardens carpark. Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.Walk duration: Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Get your passport for a thrilling journey through the Solar System, out of the Milky Way Galaxy and to the edge of the observable universe, returning home via a black hole. Narrated by Tom Hanks.Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky.Passport to the Universe was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
