About This Event
Gathering presents Merindi & Merindi.
Merindi has a songwriter's heart. Her debut performance was at Woodford Folk Festival 2022 followed by her first ever performance at the Sydney Opera House in May 2024. At the age of 10, Merindi is already winning the hearts of local audiences in Jinibara, Gimuy and Kabi Kabi countries with her pure vocals and multi layered lyrics that are grounded in her truth, guided by her 2 cultures Yalanji Bama (Daintree Rainforest Region) and Motu (PNG).
Join us on the main stage of Queen Street Mall from 12 noon-1pm to enjoy the melodic sounds of Merindi.

Gathering showcases Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performances in the Queen Street Mall. Unique to Brisbane, it is the only Indigenous performance in Australia that is featured weekly in the heart of a major capital city.

Children’s storytime in the park - Rocks Riverside Park, Seventeen Mile Rocks
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
Simone Waddell - Unforgettable
Experience a concert of unforgettable music from one the country’s most accomplished singers, Simone Waddell. Set to captivate audiences, Unforgettable promises to deliver pure entertainment through a selection of timeless melodies from the American songbook. Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
