Step into Shakespeare’s playful world at Roma Street Parkland Amphitheatre! Enjoy two professional open-air performances of 'Twelfth Night' each day at 5.30pm, directed by Xanthe Jones and starring a stellar Brisbane cast. This timeless comedy of shipwrecks, disguise, and tangled hearts bursts with music, laughter, and merriment. Arrive early to soak up the festival spirit with swordplay demonstrations by Prima Spada (4pm), Renaissance dance with Dr Heather Blasdale Clarke (4.35pm), Shakespearean language with Professor Roly Sussex (5.10pm), and flower crown making (from 4pm - additional small fee). A celebration of theatre, history, and community for all ages! Presented by 4MBS Classic FM. This event is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council. Celebrating its 20th year, the 4MBS Brisbane Shakespeare Festival brings the Bard to Brisbane with theatre, talks, dance, swordplay, and more fun for the whole family!Experience Shakespeare's thrilling tale of battles, rebellion and royal adventure with a professional production of Henry IV (Parts 1 & 2 combined) in the amphitheatre at 5.30pm. Clock Tower Tour

Remembrance Day Tours
Enjoy a free guided tour of Anzac Square Memorial Galleries for Remembrance Day 2025. We will be offering special 45-minute tours in November exploring stories of Queensland war heroes that exemplify the Anzac spirit and underpin this important day. We've searched through State Library's extensive military collection to bring you some of our favourite stories of courage, resilience, and sacrifice from the home front and battlefields, as we guide you on an interactive journey from the First World War to today. Book now to secure your place on this limited tour. Tours will depart at 10:30am and 12:30pm each Sunday for the month of November. Additional sessions will be available at 12:30pm and 1:30pm on Tuesday 11 November for Remembrance Day. Some of the moving stories you'll hear on this tour include: Hugh Andrew Geraldton Campbell, who joined the 11th Field Company Engineers when he enlisted in late 1915. Engineers, such as Hugh, were the backbone of the AIF during World War I, responsible for building and maintaining critical infrastructure like trenches, railways and roads, which were essential for troop movement and maintaining supply lines. Gladys Moncrieff OBE, a beloved Queensland soprano awarded the Order of British Empire for her wartime contributions. She performed for Australian troops in New Guinea during World War II and Japan and Korea in 1951, as well as working tirelessly to raise money for the war effort and wounded service personnel. A selection of her songs will be playing in the World War II Gallery for visitors to enjoy. Peter John Hegarty, one of 250 First Nations Australians who served during the Vietnam conflict. Born in Cherbourg he served in the Army for six years, nine months of which he spent with the Royal Australian Engineers in Vietnam.

Learn how to research your ancestor's military past and the resources available to family historians at this free talk. Are you curious to know more about the World War I or World War II military service of a relative? Do you want to know more about where they served and the battles they fought in? Not sure where to start or can't understand the abbreviations in their attestation documents? Join us at Anzac Square Memorial Galleries on Sunday 9 November for a free talk with Research Librarian Christina Ealing-Godbold who will be sharing tips and tricks on how to investigate your ancestor's military past. This talk will explore the resources available at State Library of Queensland as well as other collecting institutes such as National Archives of Australia, Trove, and the Australian War Memorial. Questions are welcome! Whether you're a beginner starting to trace your family history or a seasoned researcher looking to dig a little deeper, this talk has something for all family historians. After the talk, visitors can stay to explore the Memorial Galleries - embarking on an interactive journey from the First World War to today, before taking time to reflect on the remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice in the tranquil parklands. Location: Anzac Square Memorial Galleries is located at 285 Ann Street, Brisbane. Entry is through the double brass doors located beneath the Shrine of Remembrance.

Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. 1000 Voices - Melt 2025
