Join other like-minded volunteers to help protect and restore Brisbane’s unique biodiversity through our Habitat Brisbane program.
Whatever your skill level and motivation, joining your local Habitat Brisbane group is a great way to connect to nature and be active and healthy, all while meeting new people, developing new skills and making a difference to your local environment. With 160 groups across the city there’s bound to be one near you!
Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects.The Mookin-Bah Bushcare Group meets the second and last Saturday of each month 7-9am in the warmer months, 7.30-9.30am in the cooler months.

Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Painting with Light with Marian Drew
A moment of magic, gone in a flash, but captured forever in a photograph – enter the incredible world of painting with light. Inspired by her mesmerising works in New Light: Photography Now + Then, join artist and photographer Marian Drew for a hands-on workshop dedicated to harnessing the power of light in your photographs. Explore the art of creating striking still life compositions using found objects, mirrors, and flowers, as Marian guides you through techniques of manipulating light to create high impact images with your digital camera. The workshop is appropriate for beginners and experienced photographers. CPR awareness
This free workshop will give you the confidence to help keep someone alive using CPR while the ambulance is on its way and provide information about how to use an automated external defibrillator. Presented by qualified trainers from the Queensland Local Ambulance Committee, in partnership with the Queensland Ambulance Service.

Native stingless bees and how to keep them
Learn the basics of how to become a stingless bee beekeeper with entomologist and professional educator Dr Tim Heard.
Free guided tour - City Botanic Gardens
Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at the City Botanic Gardens. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. The walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Location: Meet at the City Botanic Gardens Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology’s Main Drive pathway). Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
Jane Austen book club
2025 marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth. We’re celebrating all year by diving into her classic works. This month’s book is Northanger Abbey.
Tinker table
Drop in for some hands-on experimenting with robots and more. Explore STEAM, coding and robotics in an open learning environment. Ideal for children aged 4 years and older.
Deep water running
This is an aquatic workout that uses all major muscle groups. Participants wear a buoyancy belt so there's no need to worry about being in deep water however you do require basic swimming skills. Classes will be held in the outdoor 25m/50m pool.
