About This Event
Join other like-minded volunteers to help protect and restore Brisbane’s unique biodiversity through our Habitat Brisbane program. Whatever your skill level and motivation, joining your local Habitat Brisbane group is a great way to connect to nature and be active and healthy, all while meeting new people, developing new skills and making a difference to your local environment. With 160 groups across the city there’s bound to be one near you! Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects. The McDowall Bushcare Group meet every Tuesday from 8.30-11.30am.

Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Gumtreekids Messy Play session at New Farm Park - Valentines Day theme
Our regular Messy Play sessions are all about hands-on fun and sensory exploration using taste-safe, food-based materials. We create a welcoming space for all ages, with a dedicated baby zone for 6–18 months, a toddler zone for busy little movers, and during school holidays we also welcome over 5s to join in the fun. These sessions encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence through play - all in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.

Children’s storytime in the park - Dorrington Park, Ashgrove
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.

Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. The walks are taken at a gentle pace for about one hour. Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Location: Meet at the City Botanic Gardens Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology’s Main Drive pathway). Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
Aqua aerobics
Experience an excellent, low-impact cross-training workout in the water. Feel the benefits of exercise without the pain. Using minimum impact movements, participants will develop strength, mobility and movement in a fun environment. This class will be held in the indoor heated pool.

Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts presents The Boor - A Comedic Opera by Dominick Argento. Boors are worse than boring; they’re offensive and repulsive. To be a Boor is to be an obnoxious, unsophisticated oaf. "Less serious than I expected and very entertaining. It made me want to see some more opera.” Springboard Opera presents the comedic opera, The Boor. A compact, three-hander show that captures the hearts of audiences, this tale is a reminder to all that just when you think it’s all over, a new hope can suddenly change everything. A young widow sits alone in the drawing room of a country manor. Since her husband’s passing, she has shut out the world, with only the company of her more-than-slightly exasperated manservant. But life has a curve-ball lying in wait for her. The sudden appearance of a stranger, The Boor, jolts her out of her haze. The two engage in a tumultuous battle of wit and courage, ultimately sparking something new and… unexpected. Featuring some of the most prominent emerging operatic talents of South East Queensland (Dallas Tippet, Liam Jackson and Luisa Tarnawski) and Directed by Emma Nightingale, this production is bursting at the seams with local talent.
