Join other like-minded volunteers to help protect and restore Brisbane’s unique biodiversity through our Habitat Brisbane program.
Whatever your skill level and motivation, joining your local Habitat Brisbane group is a great way to connect to nature and be active and healthy, all while meeting new people, developing new skills and making a difference to your local environment. With 160 groups across the city there’s bound to be one near you!
Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects.The Lawson and Kendall Street Bushcare Group meet the third Sunday of the month (except December) starting at 8am, with volunteers usually starting near the Kendall Street canoe ramp.

The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. First 5 Forever children's storytime
Experience the magic of storytime with your child at the library. This interactive session includes stories, songs and mark making activities for young children. Ideal for children aged 2-5 years. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
Magic Globe: A Story of the Seasons
Magic Globe: A Story of the Seasons is an animated adventure that is perfect for engaging children from 5 to 12 years old. On vacation at her grandpa’s, a little girl named Mia accidentally discovers a mysterious piece of astronomical machinery. Edmund, Mia’s eccentric uncle, tricks the girl into using the tool’s secret powers to change the world’s seasons. She realizes the consequences of what they are going to do, but Edmund doesn’t want to let the plan go... Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky.

Cosmic Collisions
Collisions, both dazzling and destructive, release energy that drives the growth and evolution of the universe and shape our place within it. Produced by the American Museum of Natural History. Narrated by Robert Redford. Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky. Cosmic Collisions was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science; GOTO INC, Tokyo, Japan; and the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum. English conversation group
This friendly and informal group meets in the library every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Come along to make new friends and improve your English. Learners of all levels are welcome.

This dazzling space show launches visitors through space and time to experience the life and death of the stars in our night sky, including our own nurturing Sun. Tour familiar stellar formations, explore new celestial mysteries, and discover the fascinating, unfolding story that connects us all to the stars. Those who come along for the journey may never see the night sky in the same way again. Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky. Bands in Parks: A Swinging Victory
Bands in Parks performs at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha. The South East Queensland Big Band presents a Swinging Victory, a tribute to the Big Bands and radio legends of the World War 2 era. You’ll hear works of the jazz greats of the 1930s and 40s, who took their instruments and music to the front with them to boost the morale of troops and loved ones back home. This was the era of the Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington Big Bands, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. This is a day for young and old, so take yourself back in time and swing into victory with us.
Yoga
Focus on a range of movements to relax the mind and body. Stretching, breathing, strength and balance exercises are included by incorporating mat work into the session.
