Join us at Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre this Science Week for an engaging talk exploring the unique biology of the platypus. Hear from a University of Sydney researcher as they uncover the secrets of peptide research and understanding platypus venom.The session includes a 20 minute presentation followed by a 10 minute Q&A.Presented by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Innovations in Peptide and Protein Science.About the Scientist:Adele Gonsalvez (PhD Student) is using a variety of 'omics resources to investigate the unique genes, peptides and traits of Australia's monotremes. This work particularly focuses on the characterisation and functional investigation of platypus venom and monotreme-specific genes, aiming to discover novel components and their functions to better understand these animals.Parking and facilities: Free public carparking. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking.
