Welcome to Matsuri Brisbane 2026!Join us for a historic celebration as 2026 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia.To celebrate this special milestone, Matsuri Brisbane 2026 will highlight the strong bond and cultural exchange between Japan and Australia that has grown over the past 50 years.Enjoy traditional music, delicious street food, exciting performances, and unforgettable cultural experiences - all live and in person. It's the perfect chance to connect with the community, make new friends, and experience the beauty, energy, and spirit of Japan.With over 30,000 expected visitors, this exciting event offers a full day of performances, cultural activities, delicious food, and fun for all ages. Matsuri Brisbane features a vibrant lineup of Japanese cultural performances including Taiko drums, Awa Odori, Yosakoi, Bon Odori, J-Pop, and martial arts demonstrations.Visitors can also enjoy traditional Japanese festival games such as Kendama and Super Ball Scoop, along with a variety of Japanese food, cultural stalls, travel information, and a licensed bar area.Cultural displays and workshops including Ikebana, Japanese calligraphy, and tea ceremony offer a chance to experience the beauty and traditions of Japan through hands-on activities and performances for all ages.Location: Whites Hill State College, 138 Burn Street, Camp HillThis event is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council. Convict Brisbane Walking Tour
Explore Brisbane's colonial history on this guided tour through the city's convict past.Beginning at the historic Windmill on Wickham Terrace and winding down to the river at Queens Wharf, the tour traces Brisbane's transformation between 1823 and 1842 - from a remote penal outpost to an emerging free town. Hear stories of convicts and commandants, revealing how punishment, labour and authority shaped daily life. Along the way, our guides bring the settlement into focus, illuminating the social fabric and living conditions, as well as the central role of the Brisbane River in sustaining the colony.Woven throughout the tour are First Peoples' responses to British settlement, their enduring connection to Country, and the Frontier wars that directly followed this era. Together, these intersecting stories offer a deeper understanding of how Brisbane grew from its earliest foundations into a regional centre.Tour highlights include: The Windmill, The Brisbane Crest, The Petrie Tableau, Convict-built structures and surviving remnants, Miller Park and the Commissariat Stores, Queens Wharf and, the Brisbane River.This 90‑minute, 1.75km tour is designed to suit most fitness levels, however, please note it includes walking downhill along city streets and across uneven surfaces. Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Walk timesDaily departures at 11am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday.Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Deep water aqua
This is an aquatic workout that uses all major muscle groups. Participants wear a buoyancy belt so there is no need to worry about being in deep water, however basic swimming skills are required. You must bring your own buoyancy belt for this class.
Passport to the Universe
Get your passport for a thrilling journey through the Solar System, out of the Milky Way Galaxy and to the edge of the observable universe, returning home via a black hole. Narrated by Tom Hanks.Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky.Passport to the Universe was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
