'In the Landscape' is an exhibition of new works by established artists Carmen Beezley-Drake and Joanne Kerr.This mother-daughter showcase celebrates the landscape we inhabit across painting, collage and printmaking. Throughout the exhibition, landscape is the unifying force. Birds, bushland, and backyards are reimagined with bold palettes and unfiltered joy, inviting viewers to see the world through a more vibrant and optimistic lens.Carmen and Joanne will be in attendance each day and invite you to visit, explore, and share in their vision of the landscape.

Convict Brisbane Walking Tour
Explore Brisbane's colonial history on this guided tour through the city's convict past.Beginning at the historic Windmill on Wickham Terrace and winding down to the river at Queens Wharf, the tour traces Brisbane's transformation between 1823 and 1842 - from a remote penal outpost to an emerging free town. Hear stories of convicts and commandants, revealing how punishment, labour and authority shaped daily life. Along the way, our guides bring the settlement into focus, illuminating the social fabric and living conditions, as well as the central role of the Brisbane River in sustaining the colony.Woven throughout the tour are First Peoples' responses to British settlement, their enduring connection to Country, and the Frontier wars that directly followed this era. Together, these intersecting stories offer a deeper understanding of how Brisbane grew from its earliest foundations into a regional centre.Tour highlights include: The Windmill, The Brisbane Crest, The Petrie Tableau, Convict-built structures and surviving remnants, Miller Park and the Commissariat Stores, Queens Wharf and, the Brisbane River.This 90‑minute, 1.75km tour is designed to suit most fitness levels, however, please note it includes walking downhill along city streets and across uneven surfaces. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Walk timesDaily departures at 11am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday.Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Deep water aqua
This is an aquatic workout that uses all major muscle groups. Participants wear a buoyancy belt so there is no need to worry about being in deep water, however basic swimming skills are required. You must bring your own buoyancy belt for this class.
Passport to the Universe
Get your passport for a thrilling journey through the Solar System, out of the Milky Way Galaxy and to the edge of the observable universe, returning home via a black hole. Narrated by Tom Hanks.Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky.Passport to the Universe was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Lake Day is a free community event designed to help residents connect with the wildlife, habitats, and waterways that make Forest Lake such a special place. The event combines hands‑on environmental activities, interactive learning, and family‑friendly experiences that highlight how our everyday actions influence the health of the lake.12 noon - Meet the pollutants art show.View local student artworks about residential pollutants and how they affect Forest Lake.Explore results from macroinvertebrate testing.Join in BCC litter‑pickup activities.Meet your local Bushcare volunteers and learn how you can get involved.12.30pm - Free sausage sizzle.Enjoy a free sausage sizzle thanks to generous support from community partners.A great opportunity to connect with neighbours, volunteers, and local representatives early in the day.1-2pm - Wildlife show with Wildcall.Enjoy a live wildlife presentation featuring a crocodile, turtle, lizard, snake, possum/glider, and bat.Hear practical tips on keeping local wildlife safe, including wildlife‑friendly netting, possum boxes, and responsible bird feeding.2-3pm - Meet Your local representatives.Share your concerns, ask questions, and discuss ongoing efforts to support the lake and surrounding environment.3-4pm - Continue exploring Lake Day activities.Revisit the art show, catchment map, and macroinvertebrate displays.Chat with Bushcare volunteers and learn how to get involved.Join litter‑pickup activities with the BCC Litter Team.Location: Lake Stage.
