Our new bird watching walks are a relaxed, social way to explore Brisbane's beautiful parks and green spaces. Join Emma in learning more about the beautiful birds that call Karawatha home. Beginners are welcome.Walking in a group is a safe and supportive way to explore bushland, especially for those who may be unfamiliar with the area or prefer not to walk alone. Along the way, you might pick up interesting facts about local flora, fauna, and history, while enjoying the many benefits of walking, from improved health, community connection, and time in nature.Discover what makes this precious area special and learn more about our magnificent forest and its plants and animals as we explore. Don't miss this fun family-friendly opportunity for a guided bushwalk with a difference.Moderate fitness required, this track has some uneven terrain, uphill sections and steps.This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email.Age: Strictly for ages10 years and over. All children must be supervised by an adult booked into the event.Requirements on the dayArrive 15 minutes early to check in with staff. Walks start at the advertised time.1:4 adult to child ratio required.Moderate fitness required, this track has some climbs and steps.Wear secure, fully enclosed, comfortable walking shoes.Bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent.Lightweight long pants and long sleeves recommended.Raincoat and hat if required.Please do not leave early. If you need to leave the walk early due to an emergency, please inform our guides.Meeting point: Karawatha Forest Discovery Centre. Free carparking and public toilets next to the centre.Note: This activity will go ahead in light rain. Activities are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.

Sailing and kayaking
Bookings essential. A combination of catamaran sailing with an experienced skipper along the shores of Wynnum plus supervised kayaking on sit-on-tops within a confined area. This is fun for all the family. Suitable for all ages (generally 5+). Must fit one of our lifejackets (supplied).
Convict Brisbane Walking Tour
Explore Brisbane's colonial history on this guided tour through the city's convict past.Beginning at the historic Windmill on Wickham Terrace and winding down to the river at Queens Wharf, the tour traces Brisbane's transformation between 1823 and 1842 - from a remote penal outpost to an emerging free town. Along the way, our guides bring the settlement into focus, illuminating the social fabric and living conditions, as well as the central role of the Brisbane River in sustaining the colony.Woven throughout the tour are First Peoples' responses to British settlement, their enduring connection to Country, and the Frontier wars that directly followed this era. Together, these intersecting stories offer a deeper understanding of how Brisbane grew from its earliest foundations into a regional centre.Tour highlights include: The Windmill, The Brisbane Crest, The Petrie Tableau, Convict-built structures and surviving remnants, Miller Park and the Commissariat Stores, Queens Wharf and, the Brisbane River.This 90‑minute, 1.75km tour is designed to suit most fitness levels, however, please note it includes walking downhill along city streets and across uneven surfaces. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's botanic gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals or small groups (no more than ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Walk timesDaily departures at 11am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday.Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Meeting point: City Botanic Gardens Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology's Main Drive pathway).Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Deep water aqua
This is an aquatic workout that uses all major muscle groups. Participants wear a buoyancy belt so there is no need to worry about being in deep water, however basic swimming skills are required. You must bring your own buoyancy belt for this class.
