Join us for Gruesome Graveyards - a torchlit evening tour that explores the strange, unsettling, and sometimes downright bizarre customs and stories surrounding death, burial, and what lies beneath.Set against the atmospheric backdrop of South Brisbane Cemetery, this night-time walk offers a mix of fascinating graveyard lore drawn from historical records and broader burial traditions. While some tales are local, many stretch beyond Queensland, giving you a deeper look at how different times and places have dealt with life's one certainty.You'll encounter:the unsettling truth behind reused coffinsbody decomposition: nature's final and fascinating processBrisbane's brief but deadly brush with the bubonic plaguethe grim reality of grave-robbing in the 19th centurywhen justice once came with a drop and a rope.Guided by passionate storytellers - including award-winning cemetery historian Tracey Olivieri - this tour is a safe and engaging way to experience the cemetery after dark while learning about death through a historical and cultural lens.Bring a torch. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of "taking a trip up the tower" happily continues at Museum of Brisbane.The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane's oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia's largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Children's storytime in the park - Frew Park, Milton
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers.First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.Location: On site parking available off Frew Street. Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Walk timesDaily departures at 11am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday.Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Pull up a chair and enjoy a chat with others in your community, whether you're dropping in for a quick hello or staying a while.Location: Brisbane City Hall (basement level). Enter via the corner of Adelaide and Albert Streets-look for the pink signs and take the stairs down.Hosted by a friendly volunteer, the Chatty Table creates a space where conversation flows easily and everyone is welcome.
