Tidy up this spring with Council's free green waste drop-off weekends!Make the most of our free green waste recycling event to ensure you correctly dispose of your household garden waste.The 2026 free green waste drop-off weekends will be held on: Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October.The resource recovery centres are open from 6.30am to 5.45pm every day, located at: 728 Tilley Road, Chandler 101 Upper Kedron Road, Ferny Grove 1372 Nudgee Road, Nudgee Beach 360 Sherbrooke Road, Willawong.Acceptable green waste includes: branches grass clippings loose bark palm fronds pruning from shrubs, trees and weeds.Outside of these dates, residents can use their waste vouchers or their green waste recycling bin to dispose of garden waste.

This talk, presented by Specialist Librarian India Dixon, will explore collections new and collections rediscovered, and detangle from the page and between the lines the remarkable stories of love, grief, survival, and war contained within.From prisoners-of-war to top-secret teenage cartographers, Queensland's records are full of unique and homegrown stories. Join India as she shares those stories, explains how they are interpreted within the collections, and why it is so important to preserve them for generations to come.If you've ever wanted to take a deep-dive into some of our most poignant wartime collections, this talk is for you!After the talk, visitors can stay to explore the Memorial Galleries, embarking on an interactive journey from World War I to today, before taking time to reflect on the remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice in the tranquil parklands.Location: Anzac Square Memorial Galleries is located at 285 Ann Street, Brisbane. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group?
