About This Event
The Queensland Heritage Register describes the City Botanic Gardens as "the most significant, non-Aboriginal cultural landscape in Queensland, having a continuous horticultural history since 1828, without any significant loss of land area or change in use over that time ...". Take a journey through nearly two hundred years of the gardens, from the convict settlement days to the green city oasis of 2025 and learn of their significant contribution to the development of Queensland.Requirements: Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.Meeting point: Meet at the Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology's Main Drive pathway).

Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Walk timesDaily departures at 11am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday.Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
