For 50 years the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha has played an important role in conserving plant biodiversity, protecting valuable living collections and inspiring an appreciation for the natural world. It has also long been a place where people have connected with nature and created lasting memories with family and friends.Celebrate this rich history with a picnic in the gardens and learn about some of the teams and organisations that work both internally and externally to make the gardens what it is today.You can also enjoy a walk through the gardens and discover our trail of historical photos and stories. Experience the magic of storytime with your child at the library. This interactive session includes stories, songs and mark making activities for young children. Ideal for children aged 2-5 years.No bookings are required, but places are limited. If the session becomes too full, we may need to close entry to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.

Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size.Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre.Walk duration: Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
